"Get Up"

Last night my husband specifically told me to have sweet dreams. Either that wish just doesn't work past the age of 9, or God has a strange sense of what 'sweet' is.

My dream was in an alternate universe of sortst. In an outside segment my pastor was skateboarding with some teen age boys on a street that went up in a U and back down, but all on a tilt. (This, I think is from a climbing structure at the park yesterday that my son's friend did perfectly, but that I'd never seen attempted before. It's like a rock climbing thing that has a sideways S shape.)
Anyway, the street is either connected to the house, or right outside and I'm seeing it through a window. The house I'm in is supposed to be my Great Aunt Ella Ray's house, but it's not like her real house at all. The house in the dream has small rooms and exposed beams, yellowing wall paper, antiques that look their age, and dust. (Her real house is very clean and well kept... minus the upstairs shag carpet that desperately needs replacing.)
I am watching the skateboarding and reading a book. When Pastor Scott comes in I am sitting in a lazy boy chair with my book. He tells me, "You read too much; get up." I point out that I only have a small section of the book left.
I get up, look around, and notice my great aunt taking art off the wall. Then she takes some cross-stitched pillow cases off the pillows and hangs them on the wall. They are for sale. I ask her what's up, and she tells me that the money is running low and she needs to sell some more.
I walk into the laundry room and find a cell phone. When I check it, it has lots of unheard messages. She says she doesn't know how to work it, so she never checks. I check them... nothing interesting until one from her nephew or some family male (I think nephew) saying that he's in the hospital (Or maybe it was jail, or he was dead... something bad). I went to tell her about it in a panic, but then I thought, "Why should I upset her with that news?" so I didn't.

That's all.
OK... so I read/study too much and I need to get out and do. Got it... though, just like the dream says, I feel like saying,"I've only got a little bit left to read."  I know that's not true. There will always be more things I want to study. I need to study and get out and do, not just one or the other.
As for my aunt... Maybe I'll call her and see if everything is fine.

Taunting

Last night's dream involved my husband being shirtless and totally ripped... and giving blood... taunting me that I couldn't give blood.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with him starting back up on his 'diet' and excelling at it, while I flounder with my self-control.

This Side of the Wall

In my dream last night I was on another tour, in a bus, with a group. We had sandwiches but gave them all to the restaurant for them to put at the table after our tour stop. When we got to the table we had icky looking TV dinners instead of our sandwiches. I didn't like that. There was a waitress that was offering broccoli and mashed potatoes and muffins. I said, "yes please".  I got a bad look from our tour guide. It was going to cost extra. I didn't care.
Anyway, following dinner I took off with just my professor and my son and my childhood dog, Biscuit.  He took us down a street (that resembled a street from my teenage years on VAFB)  to his house. We had to come into the house from a hole under the baby grand piano stool. I forget what we came in for but we had to go back out the same way. Dale (my professor) went first, then I lowered my son down and then I came. We were traveling along a road in Israel. I pointed out the ruins of an ancient wall. He commended me for noticing. Then I noticed beyond the wall was like another planet, or like our planet after a serious disaster. The land was like charcoal and was all angled mountains, like an earthquake had moved the grand-canyon sideways. At this point we were walking right along the edge of the charred wasteland. I let my dog go and she ran into the wasteland on the other side of the wall. Dale was very concerned, but I told him that she would come back. The ground in the char-coaled area was dusty. Only a few seconds after she had gone in, my dog came running around the wall and I grabbed her.
The scene changed a little and the wasteland side of the road was now a school.
I was walking with my family (perhaps it was a whole other dream...?). To our right there was a ramp with tons of parents on it waiting to go in the school to get their kids. Up ahead was another entrance, less crowded.
We walked towards it. By the time we got to that entrance the ramp was nearly empty and our entrance was more crowded. There was a strange vibe in the air. It was hectic but you weren't allowed to panic. It was bad, but no one was acting like it.

I know I read a lot yesterday about the Great Tribulation, so perhaps that's why the doomsday theme.
I'm not sure of any solid meaning.

A Reaccuring Home, and a Kissing Lesson.

I had two dreams last night. One was simply touring and thinking about the house that I dream of for my parent's best friends, the Gores. There house is nothing like the one I dream of, but whenever I dream of them, it's the house I put them in.  And the whole dream seems to center around the layout of the house. It's a huge house. It even grows. Last night's house did not have as big of an upstairs as it usually does, in fact it was a fourth of it's usual size. It only had a bedroom for their oldest daughter Hannah. The office part of the house that I have hardly ever noticed before had grown immensely.  The side porch was prominent and there was a fenced in side yard that had a slope down to the sidewalk. The kitchen was open to the family room, the dining room, and the breakfast nook. I thought about the blueprints and even about building it somewhere else, and changing the yard around.

Why is that interesting? Well, my mom's best friend died a while back and this past year the husband remarried. Their oldest daughter moved back in with them with her new baby, so the dynamics have changed substantially.
I haven't talked to them in a while, but it would be interesting to find out if business is taking up more time.  I know that many of their prayers focus on their daughter, which could be why her room was the only thing upstairs.

My other dream involved Guy's sister again, this time she was wanting my boyfriend, and I even told her that when I was finished with him she could teach him more. I was teaching him (who had the same name as my husband, and looked like a cross between Percy Jackson {from The Lightening Thief movie I saw yesterday}and my pastor's son), how to kiss. There was other stuff that surrounded it.... I can't remember now, but the main thing was teaching him how to kiss.

The interesting thing is that to kiss something, in the old days (Biblical), was to worship it. We saw a lot of kissing on out tour at the Greek Orthodox places. There were people kissing the rock that Jesus supposedly prayed on in the garden... stuff like that. (Idolatry really, but they don't know any better.)

Trickery

I woke up at 3:45 with this one fresh in my mind. I made a point to go over it a few times before I fell back to sleep since I haven't been remembering my dreams for the past few days. (I think the jet lag is making me have my main dream at a different time than normal.)

The setting was similar to Jerash (one of the sites we saw on our trip in Jordan). There were cobble stone streets, lots of rocks like steps to sit on and small passage ways people were going into and out of.
We (my husband and I) were at a reunion full of people from my high school in Italy and some from my junior high in California. It almost felt like a cruise.
Anyway, there was a pairing off going on. I won't say mandatory, because the same thing has happened in other dreams of mine where I felt like it was mandatory, only to find out later that it wasn't, and my husband gets mad and betrayed. However un-mandatory this was I went ahead and paired off with a boyfriend I had in 7th grade named Dale. (Interesting that that is my professor's name, but other wise I see no significance.) I was with a girl friend of mine who was looking for a boy for herself. She saw one she likes, but I insisted that another one is better. She ate the one I pointed out (with one big chomp like a video game) and went to ask the one she preferred. He said, "No". Then I pointed out that she should have chosen the one I said, which made her sad.
Right about then a bunch of us sat down and were talking about my old friend Guy. People had memories of him bragging about his possessions but that we never actually saw them. Guy came into the group and explained that his dad would give him things, then they wouldn't be usable at his mom's house. I few people thought he was lying, but it appeased the rest of us.
Then I saw my husband across the room twirling a camera like a pistol with a sly look in his eye. He was taking sneaky shots of people around the party. Right after we made eye contact he took one of Guy's sister walking up the stairs with a slitted dress on that when she stepped revealed her 'girls parts'. The photo was instantly visible by everyone there. Guy's sister was outraged. The my husband proceeded to take another girl's picture closer to me. Immediately after that picture was taken, it was exposed that they were are in collusion with each other to prank the rest of us. (Or maybe to get me back for pairing off with Dale?)

This whole mandatory/non mandatory pairing off thing has been in 4 or 5 dreams of mine since October. I think it has something to do with my inability to say, "no". Growing up, most of my decisions were made for me by my sister or my parents. Once I was peer pressure age I really didn't think I had a choice with my life's daily decisions. I went along with everything the group did unless it really went counter to my core beliefs. This often led to going out with guys I didn't like, even on occasions when the one I did like liked me back.  People like me tend to end up as doormats our whole life, or when we finally find our voice we speak it way too forcefully to make up for the years of abuse.  Some find a happy medium. I am striving for the happy medium.
I'm not sure why Guy is popping up in my dreams. He was in the "Cliff Climbing" one too. I do think the jabbing by my husband that surrounds my personality flaw is quite accurate. He can't stand my inability to say 'no', or my counter act of speaking my opinion too forcefully when I've reached boiling.

Epic

Wow, it was like I had a full movie in my dream last night.
In Australia, on a tour (go figure).
The movie even came around full circle and had a 'wrapping up' of the story.
However... now that I have come down stairs, talked to my husband about all kinds of other stuff, etc. I have forgotten the whole thing.
If I remember later, I'll re post.
Have a wonderful day.

I'm back

Well, I'm home from my vacation.
I had absolutely NO time to journal during the 'tour' part of the trip. wake up calls were set at 5:45. CRAZY.

But I did dream some quite interesting dreams. I only remember basics since I didn't write anything down.

The first night I had one where my friend Olivia puked in a garage, and we both cleaned it up together.
The second night I had one where my daughter and I were riding bikes down a hill and listening to a heavy metal song discussing the lyrics and how they were searching for God.
Four or 5 days ago I had one where my professor was examining my breasts.
A few days before that I had one where I was driving a bus and the breaks were not working, but I drove up into a park on a hill and we stopped.
And I had another where I was with my Swell Sister's in a van and stopped at a shabby chic convention, all in 50's style dresses. There were cats there using the toilet. I took off my dress and went to put it back on in-side-out and found that I needed to do pattern work on it. I started working on it and a large burly mountain man came to help me (a character from a book I was reading). He did the pattern for me, but to my horror when I came to check on him he had thrown away the 'good' part of the pattern too. I was so upset, cause I had to turn it in at college the next day, and now I'd have to start over.

The first dream... I think was because Olivia and I were talking the day before I left. She is opening up in new ways... some messy. :-)
The second dream rings of a conversation my daughter and I had about a week after I dreamed it, about my husband (ex- heavy metal rocker) and his struggles. We are both on bikes because it's our own 'personal' journey, but we were together because we are together in this journey. We both deal with the same things with him. (We had a very trying trip with him, due to another love interest of my daughter's that she met on the trip.)
The third dream really bothered me the first few days after I had it. I had a hard time understanding it.It was awkward and of course I didn't want to think of my professor that way.  Then the last day of the tour my professor came up to me (in real life) and explained how he had been watching my husband and I on the trip and how he admired our parenting and our marriage. I immediately thought of the dream and how breasts symbolize motherhood.  He had been examining my mothering... not really my boobs. :-)
The other two dreams both had buses (not unusual, since I basically lived on a bus for the past week and a half). We saw tons of stray cats on our trip, all over Jordan and Israel. ... and other wise I'm not sure of any meaning.
